THE CONNECTED BUILD
Air, fuel & calibration
Read these as a connected configuration. The recovery involved both a replacement turbo and matching calibration.
Shop installation documented
VSE STG3 turbo
LM2 / LZ0 3.0L Duramax STG3
- Its role
- Replaced the failed factory turbo as part of the repair.
- On this truck
- The replacement was one stage of the recovery. The owner reports that matching VSE calibration finally resolved the recurring problem.
- Before copying it
- Confirm the exact LM2 application, installed revision and matching calibration. Current catalog dimensions are not verified dimensions of this unit.

S&B enclosed intake
75-5137-1D · dry filter
- Its role
- Filters incoming air at the start of the route into the turbo.
- On this truck
- An earlier addition to the build, later used with the PPE plumbing and VSE turbo. No airbox-only power or economy test is available.
- Before copying it
- Match the exact engine/year and filter variant. This recorded purchase is the dry-filter version.

PPE carbon-fiber Zilla pipe
115020360
- Its role
- Replaces the inlet tube feeding the turbo compressor.
- On this truck
- Added around the turbo repair. The overall setup improved after matching calibration; the pipe’s contribution was not separately measured.
- Before copying it
- Check the airbox and turbo-side connections for the particular configuration. Catalog airflow claims are not truck-specific horsepower gains.

PPE turbo resonator replacement
115020200
- Its role
- Replaces the air-path resonator on the turbo outlet route toward the intercooler.
- On this truck
- Documented alongside the Zilla pipe, but on the other side of the compressor. No separate sound or performance comparison was recorded.
- Before copying it
- This air-path component is distinct from exhaust emissions hardware. Confirm the exact outlet/intercooler connection.

VSE Fuel System Saver
LM2 fuel-filtration kit
- Its role
- Supporting fuel-filtration hardware, described by VSE as water separation plus secondary filtration.
- On this truck
- Shop-installed with the turbo. There is no measured power gain or demonstrated avoided failure from the kit on this truck.
- Before copying it
- The installed kit revision, element labels and service interval still need confirmation. Use configuration-specific service guidance.

VSE engine & transmission calibration
Refreshed 2022–2022.5 LM2 package
- Its role
- Calibration selected for the completed turbo, airflow and tire configuration.
- On this truck
- The owner reports that the matching VSE tune finally resolved the recurring check-engine and limp-mode problem after the turbo replacement.
- Before copying it
- Match the actual controller, engine, turbo and supported interface. The owner’s historical MPVI3 is not a current shopping recommendation.

Tires & stance
The tire size, wheel dimensions and suspension setup belong together. This build does not establish universal rub-free fitment.
Purchase and installed size documented
Toyo Open Country A/T III
LT285/55R22 · load range E
- Its role
- The larger all-terrain tire package on the owner’s 22-inch wheels.
- On this truck
- The owner noticed less acceleration urgency after the tire change and supplied the size when requesting calibration revisions.
- Before copying it
- Wheel width/offset, alignment, final clearance and actual road-speed correction still need documentation. Tire size alone does not prove fitment.

SuspensionMAXX leveling & rear kit
Front 2.0–2.5-inch kit · SMX-159720 rear kit
- Its role
- The suspension changes behind the owner-reported two-inch front-and-rear lift.
- On this truck
- The original 1.5-inch rear kit was returned. January records show a 2-inch replacement; the precise front setting and bracket arrangement remain open.
- Before copying it
- Confirm the exact Denali suspension and application. There are no measured final heights or universal clearance claims here.

The working bed
The current Retrax replaced an earlier folding cover. Its secondhand purchase is part of the ownership story.
$850 secondhand purchase owner-confirmed
RetraxPRO XR bed cover
T-80488 · current owner-identified cover
- Its role
- The current manual retractable cover with XR rails, replacing the previous folding cover.
- On this truck
- Bought virtually new for $850 through Marketplace. Actual cover photos are in the build; water-management and longer-term use reports are still to come.
- Before copying it
- The linked T-80488 listing is the CarbonPro application. The T-82488 label photographed on this truck identifies the rail assembly, not another complete-cover model.

BEFORE YOU BUY
Match the whole setup.
- Identify the actual truck. Model year, refresh, engine and suspension matter. “Fits a Sierra” is a starting point.
- Match turbo and calibration. The owner’s resolution came after both the hardware repair and matching VSE files. This story is not a universal fault-code cure.
- Check the interfaces. Airbox and turbo connections, bed type, wheel width/offset and suspension settings are configuration-specific.
- Compare the installed cost. Product price, labor, supporting parts and calibration are separate. An estimate or secondhand price is not a current retail offer.
- Keep the gaps visible. Exact silicone hoses, installed filter elements, final lift measurements and clearance still need documentation here.
The PPE 115930100 hose kit is a documented purchase intended for the repair; the exact fitted hoses are not confirmed. The returned 1.5-inch rear kit is history, not a current parts recommendation.
